Remember The Good Ol’ Days Of Myspace

Remember how Myspace came before Facebook?

Your first friend, Tom<br />
When you joined, you automatically started with one friend, Tom. You immediately knew that Tom was the creator of MySpace. Little did you know, that profile picture wouldn't change for years and that creepy look lived on. Ironically, he even made the switch to Facebook, but made a shit ton of cash along the way.

When you first joined Myspace, you already started out with one friend! Tom wouldn’t let you be lonely, he was everybody’s friend.

HTML editing<br />
Everyone thought they were some kind of programmer, editing their profiles with HTML code to make their page look way cooler than the rest of their friends. Who needs school when you've got programming lessons on MySpace?

Am I the only one that learned HTML editing because of Myspace? Facebook doesn’t even have the option at all. Your profile has to be just plain white and blue. Everybody is the same on Facebook.

Background Websites<br />
It was always a battle for who had the coolest profile background. Those Myspace background websites were also a great way to get viruses on your computer. But look how cool the dolphins are...

And if you couldn’t get the hang of HTML, there were websites that provided you with codes you could copy and paste to make your profile look spectacular. Instead of plain blue and white, you could do fantasy dolphin blue and white!

Moving Profile Pictures<br />
Ah yes, the blinking profile pictures. These were really the early days of gifs, only to be preceded by the sparkling 'happy birthday' graphic that your mom would e-mail you on your big day.

Something that Facebook should really let us do is moving profile pictures. You know what I mean, GIFS.

Top Friends<br />
You got to show the world who your best friends were and throw your new girlfriend in that highly sought after #1 spot. It was the ultimate dis to not have the honor of being featured on at least a few of these top spots.

Everyone on your friends list knew how they rated thanks to the top friends feature on Myspace. Although, some of your friends who didn’t make the cut could be offended.

Above the Head Myspace Pics<br />
Oh, the infamous "Myspace pic.” Lift your arm high, tilt your head back, and hope that your flip phone is getting you at your "best" angle. Thankfully Myspace got rid of everyones' old photos when the new layout rolled around, preserving all of your hard earned dignity.

And Myspace was where all the selfies started. Remember when everybody took the “over the head” selfies?

Online Now Guy<br />
This little guy was always there to tell your friends that you were online and ready to start a chat, whether you wanted to talk or not.

The online now guy was always there to notify your friends when you were online and ready to chat. He could get really annoying when you weren’t in the mood to chat.

Profile Music<br />
Now this was the best and worst feature of the site. You could put your favorite song up to show the world how “edgy" and “cool" your taste in music was. Plus, the music would automatically start, so people had to listen to at least 5 seconds. It was always such a letdown when you'd go to check out a girl's profile, and 'Nickelback' would start playing. Such a buzzkill.

One of the features we could all admit to missing a little bit was the profile playlist. Anytime somebody viewed your profile they could listen to all of your favorite songs.

Transition to Facebook<br />
Then one day, Myspace just wasn't as popular. People's online symbols were gone. Hell, nobody was responding to your "Pic 4 Pic" requests. What a sad day. At that point you knew that you had to make the change.

And then Facebook happened, and it was all over…
